No plans to widen entrance to Aylesbury, Soc Dems councillor told

Social Democrats councillor Shane Hickey-O'Mara.

SOCIAL Democrats councillor Shane Hickey-O’Mara has questioned the Council about its plans for road-widening at the Clonmacken Road entrance to Aylesbury to allow cars to safely enter and exit the estate simultaneously.

Mike Richardson of the Council’s Roads Department said that the local authority currently has no plans to widen the internal road entrance.

“The widening of an internal road in a residential area would not be a strategy Limerick City and County Council would typically contemplate as it may introduce an opportunity for vehicular speeding to take place.

“However centre line road markings will be considered as guidance for road traffic users in this area,” he explained.
