ENDA Curran, a legend of the sport, netted his 100th competitive career goal as Treaty United breezed into the quarter-finals of the FAI Cup courtesy of a 7-0 victory over Pike Rovers at the Markets Field.

His landmark strike at the weekend arrived in the early stages from a well-executed penalty kick. It gave the home side a strong foothold on proceedings, ahead 2-0.

His century came just a few days after the 32-year-old bagged a crucial hat-trick away to Longford Town in the League of Ireland First Division.

Across his time with Treaty, whom he joined a couple of seasons back, Curran is now closing in on 50 goals.

At previous clubs, he too scored at will at Galway United (20), Salthill Devon (18), Longford Town (6), Athlone Town (5), Mervue United (3), and Derry City (2).

Unfortunately, Curran was forced off injured on Friday and his immediate availability to manager Tommy Barrett is unclear.

His replacement, debutant Trpimir Vrljičak (Croatia), scored soon after his introduction, and another one later on. There was a goal too for Robbie Lynch.

Lee Devitt was the stand-out performer with a stunning hat-trick (1’, 36’, 47’).

The attendance was in the region of 1,800 enthusiastic supporters.

Treaty, meanwhile, will aim to keep up their promotion play-off chances with a positive result against Wexford FC on Friday, kick-off 7.45pm.

In the Women’s FAI Cup, Treaty United host holders Athlone Town in the last eight of the competition in Garryowen on Saturday (5pm).

The other quarter-final ties this weekend are: DLR Waves v Sligo Rovers, Cork City v Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers v Shelbourne.
