A CHAMPIONSHIP dog show will take place in Limerick this week with a very special aim – crowning Limerick’s top dog.

Limerick and District Canine Club will return with their 93rd All Breed International Championship Dog Show at Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel in Adare this Thursday (August 22).

Over 1,100 dogs will be exhibited at the show, with over 265 different breeds of dog set to take part. Organisers told the Limerick Post that Thursday’s competition day will see the largest variety gathering ever to be seen in Ireland.

The All Breed International Championship Dog Show will form part of the Muster Circuit of dog shows, which sees a weeklong gauntlet of dog shows take place across the province, with other shows set to get tails wagging in Clonmel (Tipperary), Killarney (Kerry), Castleisland (Kerry), as well as in Adare in County Limerick.

There will be a strong judging pedigree this year, with judges hailing from Ireland, Finland, Italy, and the United States.
