SPECIMENS were seized in the city on Friday last in a joint operation carried out by the National Parks and Wildlife Service and An Garda Siochána in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine and the ISPCA.
During the operation a number of properties in East and South Limerick were searched in relation to alleged breaches of the Wildlife Act and the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations concerning trade in endangered animals under the CITES Convention (the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora).
In the course of the operation a number of specimens were seized and the agencies involved will be following on with further investigations under the relevant legislation.
