A MAN is to appear before the courts this morning in connection with a seizure of an estimated €140,000 worth of cocaine in Limerick City earlier this week.
Gardaí confirmed that the man, described as being in his 40s, will appear before a special sitting of Nenagh District Court this Friday morning (August 16).
Earlier this week, Gardaí confirmed that a man in his 40s and a young woman in her teens were arrested on Wednesday evening (August 14) following a seizure of cocaine estimated to be worth €140,000.
The pair were detained at a Garda Station in the southern region in connection with the drugs bust.
A Garda spokesman said in a statement that the “suspected cocaine was seized … when Gardaí stopped a vehicle on the south side of the city”.
The spokesman explained that “large packages containing the cocaine were seized following a search of the vehicle”.
The suspected cocaine was to be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further analysis.
Gardaí said in a statement that the teenage woman arrested in connection with the drugs bust has been released without charge pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
A Garda spokesman added that “investigations are ongoing”.
