Young Limerick woman who died after tragic car crash to be laid to rest this week

TRIBUTES continue to flow following the tragic death of a young Limerick woman who died this past Sunday following a car crash late last month.

Hannah Frawley, of Caherelly, Grange, County Limerick, passed away on Sunday August 11 after she was severely injured in a single-car collision on the night of July 30.

The young Limerick women fought bravely for her life for two weeks after the tragic crash in Cork University Hospital.

The popular 25-year-old will be laid to rest this Friday following funeral Mass at St Michael’s Church on Denmark Street.

A wave of tributes have poured out from across the county in the day’s since Hannah’s death, with many describing her as a “ray of sunshine” and a “beautiful soul” who “always brought such positivity and character to each room she entered”.

Hannah attended school at An Modhscoil before going to Laurel Hill Coláiste in Limerick City. She got her college education at Limerick School of Art and Design.

In an online post, a colleague of Hannah’s wrote that  “Hannah was a such a sweet soul and she will be missed”.

Another mourner described the late Hannah as “such a wonderful person who brought so much light and laughter into the lives of everyone she met”.

“I will always cherish the memories I have with her from LSAD, and I know that her light and spirit will live on in all of us who were fortunate enough to know her.”

Gardaí this week renewed their public appeal for witnesses to the fatal crash, in which the driver – a man in his 20s – was also severely injured.

Investigating officers are especially interested in speaking to “road users with camera footage (including dashcam) who were travelling on the R503 road near Lisngry, County Limerick, on Tuesday 30th July 2024, between 7.45pm and 8.45pm”.

Hannah is survived by her adoring parents, Ger and Liz, and brother Luke. She will be dearly missed by her grandmother Kathleen, her partner Chase, Luke’s fiancée Ellen, uncles Martin, Mike and Tim, aunts Mairead, Mary, and Judith, and a wide network of family and friends.

She will be reposing at Thompson’s Funeral Home on Thomas Street in Limerick City this Thursday (August 15) from 5pm to 6.30pm.

A celebration of Hannah’s life will be held at St Michael’s Church on Denmark Street on Friday at 12pm, followed by burial afterwards in Caherelly Graveyard.
