TWO people are currently being detained by Gardaí this Thursday morning following the seizure of cocaine worth €140,000 in Limerick City.
Gardaí this morning confirmed that a man and a young woman were arrested this past Wednesday evening (August 14) following a seizure of cocaine estimated to be worth €140,000.
A Garda spokesman said that the “suspected cocaine was seized on Wednesday evening when Gardaí stopped a vehicle on the south side of the city”.
The spokesman explained that “large packages containing the cocaine were seized following a search of the vehicle”.
The suspected cocaine is to be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for further analysis.
Gardaí said that the man, aged in his 40s, and a woman in her teens were arrested in connection with the cocaine seizure and are currently detained at a Garda station in the southern region under the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.
The Garda spokesman said that investigations into the seizure are ongoing.
