KILMALLOCK boss Peter Queally is set to be appointed as manager of his native Waterford.

It’s anticipated, however, that Queally will continue with his club managerial duties in Limerick until the autumn.

Waterford County Board is expected to ratify the appointment of Queally on a two-year term at its next meeting.

Queally will be joined in his new set up by fellow countyman Dan Shanahan and Eoin Kelly of Tipperary.

He had been a selector with outgoing Davy Fitzgerald for the past couple of seasons.

After an opening round loss to Doon, Kilmallock bounced back with a narrow defeat of Mungret St Paul’s, 1-20 to 1-19, in Bruff at the weekend.

Limerick’s breakthrough star of 2024 Shane O’Brien was superb, contributing a fine 1-5 for Queally’s charges.

Elsewhere in the top flight, Ronan Lynch (0-7) top-scored for holders Na Piarsaigh in a 1-22 to 1-17 win over Ahane in Caherconlish and Doon toppled Patrickswell, 4-14 to 0-20, in Kilmallock.

The goals at Fitzgerald Park arrived through captain Darragh O’Donovan, Adam English (1-5), Darragh Stapleton and Chris Thomas.

In Group Two, victories were secured by Ballybrown, Monaleen and Dromin-Athlacca.
