LIMERICK is set to benefit from one of 17 new charging pools for electric vehicles being rolled out on Irish motorways.

The pools are funded by a grant scheme in partnership between Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland and Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

As part of the scheme, Applegreen Electric at M18 junction 4 in Clondrinagh is to be fitted with one of the charging pools.

The installations will bring the average distance between charging pools along routes on the scheme to 45 kilometres.

Other nearby pools will be placed at the Ennis Plaza (County Clare), Barack Obama Plaza (County Tipperary), and Birdhill (M7 junction 17, County Tipperary).
