Limerick Gardaí arrest man caught red handed while graffiting a wall

Gardaí from Henry Street arrested the tagger.

GARDAÍ arrested a man who had been caught red handed while graffiting a wall in Limerick City.

Gardaí from the Community Policing Unit at Henry Street Garda Station were out on patrol in the Roche’s Street area of the city on the night of July 31 when they “encountered a male putting his own mark on property not belonging to him”, a post on the Limerick Garda Facebook page explained.

Gardaí took chase of the tagger, who attempted to flee the scene on foot. He was arrested and taken to Henry Street Station.

Gardaí said they appreciate art in all its forms”, but “the act of putting graffiti on property not belonging to you is an offence under the Criminal Damage Act”.
