HUNDREDS are still without power across the county this Monday afternoon, after a thunderstorm roared over Limerick yesterday (Sunday) evening.

An estimated 2,500 homes and businesses across Limerick were without power this morning as a result of last night’s storm, which saw heavy rains and forks of lightning streak across the sky throughout the county.

While restoration efforts from ESB networks have been ongoing this morning – reconnecting almost 2,000 customers across the day so far – many find themselves still without power.

The most severe outage clusters are in the Rathkeale area, where over 200 homes and business are still without power.

Power in the Rathkeake area is expected to be restored for most users by 6pm this evening, along with service for impacted users in the Foynes and Askeaton areas.

Those in Patrickswell can expect power to be restored just after lunchtime.

Those in the south of the county, in the areas of Ballyagran, Rockhill, Leigh, Castletown, can expect power to be restored between 3pm and 6pm.

ESB Networks has apologies to residents and business impacted for the loss of supply, saying that teams are “currently working to report a fault” and will restore power as “quickly as possible”.
