Status yellow thunderstorm warning for Limerick and wider Munster area

A STATUS yellow warning has gone out from Met Éireann over a thunderstorm expected to sweep over Limerick and the wider Munster area later this Sunday evening.

The meteorological body put the warning out shortly after 4.30pm, announcing a thunderstorm and rain warning that may bring on adverse conditions.

Met Éireann warned of potential localised flooding and dangerous travelling conditions on account of the status yellow thunderstorm warning, which is currently in place and will last until 9pm this Sunday evening.

The status yellow rain warning also forecasts further potential localised flooding, difficult traveling conditions, as well as poor visibility.

The rain warning will be in place from 10pm this evening and will last until 7am tomorrow (Monday) morning.

The status yellow rain warning is in place for Limerick, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, and all of Connacht as a whole.

A small craft warning for all Irish coasts will also be in place until 12pm tomorrow afternoon, with southeast winds veering southwest expected to reach force six or higher, according to Met Éireann.
