Traffic delays as bus and cars involved in crash in Limerick City

GARDAÍ and emergency services are attending the scene of a multi-vehicle crash this Friday evening, which saw a number of cars and a city bus damaged, along with a street light smashed against the wall of a local business.

Gardaí and members of the ambulance services attended the scene of a crash, which occurred on Sarsfield Street in Limerick City, leaving three cars and a city bus damaged.

Footage and images circulating across social media of the crash also show a street light knocked out of place and smashed against the wall of the Starbucks café at the corner of Sarsfield Street and O’Connell Street.

According to Gardaí, the collision happened just after 6pm this evening.

When asked if there were any resulting injuries from the crash, a Garda spokesman said that “no further information is available at this time”.

The crash involved three cars, two which received damaged to their rear and one damaged on the  front and left side, and a 304 bus, which can be seen in footage circulating online with a smashed front window and the panel underneath the window completely broken.

The 304 bus services the route connecting the University of Limerick in Castletroy to the Dooradoyle-Raheen area.

It is understood a number of parked bicycles were also damaged in the incident.

Delays in traffic can be expected as Gardaí clear the scene.
