SATURDAY August 17 will see the return of the Cappamore Show for its exciting 68th installment. The show returns to Ballyvoreen once again this year, with the committee putting a new focus on field layout to improve safety and enjoyment of the annual competition.
There’s something for the young and young at heart with facepainting, the pets corner (with a selection of rare and exciting animals as well as a few farmyard favourites on hand to attend), bouncy castles, and magician Carl Campbell.
Attendees can also expect food and craft stands with over 20 small and local businesses displaying goods, services, and more.
Celebrity chef Edward Hayden will also be in attendance, providing a live cookery demonstration. Organisers say viewers will learn a few cullinary tricks and “have a bit of a laugh”.
The Green Village, supported by St Ailbe’s Credit Union, also returns this year, with a showcase of wildlife and biodiversity, providing a space for green business in the region to showcase their work.
There will also be a host of carnival attractions, along with the Pauline Hynan dancers displaying their talents.
The Field Fest music and dance display returns too with Sandy Kelly, Dave Lawlor, Olivia Douglas, Mary Daniels, and Michael Cahill providing the entertainment.
There will also be an archery display, demonstrations from the Murroe Scouts, GAA games and challenges and sheepdog trials and demonstrations.
Those who like something a little different will also be in for a treat with the goat classes.
The cattle show will be a highlight this year, with over 70 classes on show with nine different breeds and commercials in over six rings.
Show-goers can expect tons of excitement with the Limoisin Breeding Heifer final, the South Western Simmental Club Championships, the Bonny Baby Calf of the Year competition, the GVM All Ireland Beef Championships, the Aldi-ABP Irish Angus Calf Qualifiers, the Angus Tréad na hÉireann, and the Continental Breeding Heifer.
Two new classes have been added this year in the Heregord and Aberdeen Aengus.
The horse and pony showing and show jumping will provide over 20 showing classes for horses, mares, and foals, along with the Kerry Bog Pony National Final.
The pet dog show this year will include 16 classes for all of man’s best friends, including best dog and owner as well as special classes for children.
