MUNSTER will be engaged over the coming weeks in both the Inter-provincial Under-18 Clubs and Schools Championships.

Connacht and Leinster are the respective defending champions.

An Under-19 Inter-provincial Series will be staged alongside.

Aiden McNulty, the former Ireland Women’s Sevens head coach, is in charge of this year’s Munster Under-19 group, while Matt Brown and Gerry Casey, are at the helm of their respective Under-18 Schools and Clubs squads.

At Schools’ level, Munster host Ulster at the weekend, followed by outings away to Ulster (August 24) and home to Leinster (August 28).

On the Clubs front, Munster are away to Leinster (August 18), home to both Ulster (August 25) and Connacht (September 1).

In the Under-19 Series, Munster travel to Leinster (August 18) and have home fixtures against Ulster (August 25) and Connacht (September 1).

Meanwhile, Jamie Walsh (Bruff RFC)  has been included in the Ireland Under-18 Development Squad, currently based at Clongowes Wood College and the IRFU High Performance Centre.

Its coach is Jamie Kirk, with support from Ken Moore (assistant) and Rob Cassidy (Athletic Development Coach), while Anthony McKibben is Team Manager.

Teams from Italy, Scotland and Wales will also be present.

Matches are listed for the National High Performance Centre on Friday.

“For all of these players, it will be a first experience of training and playing against international opponents, which will give them valuable experience to support their future development,” he explained.

Kirk added: “Having the teams together in Clongowes Wood College and playing at the High Performance Centre presents a wonderful opportunity for players and coaches to share knowledge and experience a high-performance environment.”
