Man rushed to Cork hospital with serious injuries following crash in County Limerick

A MAN has been rushed to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries following a collision involving a car and a truck in County Limerick.

The collision occurred around 7am this Wednesday morning (August 7) near the port town of Foynes.

The driver of the car was seriously injured.

A Garda spokeswoman said that Gardaí attended the scene of a “two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a truck and a car, that occurred on the N69, at approximately 7am”.

“One man (20s) suffered serious injuries and has been taken to University Hospital Cork for treatment,” said the Garda spokeswoman.

The road remains closed this afternoon and local diversions are in place.

The Garda spokeswoman said the Garda’s “investigations are ongoing”.

Firefighters attached to Foynes and Rathkeale firehouses were dispatched to the scene by 999/112 radio operators at the Munster Regional Communications Centre in Limerick City.

A Garda forensic collision investigator was due to attend the scene to conduct a technical examination of the road.
