DRIVERS from the Athea Vintage Club went the extra mile when they presented €23,000 to two deserving charities raised from last year’s Vintage and Modern Road Run.
Held in September last year, the club said it was “phenomenal” that the parish and surrounding community turned out again to support.
“It was amazing to see Athea Village so energised and the atmosphere was electric,” a club representative said.
€2,000 was donated to the Mid West Parkinson Association, while a whopping €21,000 was presented to Ronald McDonald House, who helped local girl Sophie Mulligan and her parents Melissa and Alan.
This year’s run will take place on September 8.
