FINE Gael councillor Dan McSweeney called on Limerick City and County Council to consider the development of a village enhancement plan (VEP) for Clarina/Ballybrown.
The delivery of such a plan, Cllr MsSweeney says, will set out a clear direction for the needs of the local community for years to come.
In response to Cllr McSweeney’s motion at last month’s Metropolitan District meeting, the local authority agreed that the region would benefit from the delivery of a VEP.
It was also committed that such plans would be included in the Council’s work programme of the Forward Planning, Public Realm, and Heritage Team for 2025.
Welcoming the commitment, Cllr McSweeney, Council Príomh Chomhairleoir said: “The area of Clarina/Ballybrown has benefited significantly from different grant funding schemes over the last five years to support a number of different projects.”
“The significant grant funding was delivered mainly due to the work of many community volunteers and it is now important that Limerick City and County Council support the local community and set out a plan for the area for the next number of years.”
He said he “would hope once this plan is finalised the Council will support the delivery of it by providing funding but also supporting funding applications to Government”.
“I am confident the local community will get involved in the development of the village enhancement plan as the local community are the most important stakeholders to ensure that this plan meets their needs and becomes a reality.”
