Burglaries up in Limerick, new figures show

Burglaries in Limerick have increased, CSO data has shown.

BUGLARIES in Limerick have increased by 18 per cent over the last year in the Limerick Garda Division.

That’s according to alarm company Phonewatch, who published a national list based on figures from the Central Statistics Office revealing 482 burglaries here in the last 12 months.

The company says the increase highlights the urgent need for homeowners to be vigilant and take proactive steps to improve home security measures, especially during the summer holiday season.

The CSO data outlines that 19 of the 28 Garda divisions nationwide have experienced an increase in burglaries within the last year.

The Roscommon and Longford Garda Division endured the highest rate of increase at 45 per cent (235 burglaries), while Cork City increased by 41 per cent (351) and Clare by 39 per cent (224).
