A MAN who was arrested earlier this week after a string of seizures of almost €700,000 worth of drugs and cash in Limerick City is to go before a special court sitting today, Gardaí have confirmed.
A haul of cannabis, heroin, and cocaine worth an estimated €420,000, along with €250,000 in cash, was seized by Gardaí operating from the Mayorstone Crime Unit, in a series of raids across Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
As part of Operation Tara – a nationwide anti-drugs campaign focusing on disrupting, dismantling, and prosecuting drug trafficking networks – Gardaí carried out a number of raids in the St Mary’s Park area of Limerick City across the past two days.
During a search under warrant at a number of homes in the area on Wednesday, Gardaí seized cannabis valued at around €100,000.
On Thursday, in a follow up search, €100,000 worth of suspected cocaine and €250,000 in cash was also seized.

That man has since been charged and is to this Friday afternoon go before a special sitting of Nenagh District Court.
A further search carried out by Gardaí on Thursday saw the seizure of quantities of cocaine, cannabis, and heroin “with a combined value exceeding €220,000”.
A woman in her 50s was arrested in connection with these raids, and is still in custody, according to this afternoon’s Garda statement.
All raids and subsequent seizures were carried out in the St Mary’s Park area of Limerick City.
Gardaí say investigations into the seizures are ongoing.
