The local preschool were honoured for their work with biodiversity.

A LOCAL preschool was honoured with a Nature Hero Award, marking its dedication to biodiversity.

Naíonra na nÓg Preschool on the Old Cratloe Road was given the Nature Hero Award by Biodiversity in Schools, in association with Glenveigh Homes.

Naíonra na nÓg was the only preschool in Limerick given the award, while 43 other schools throughout the country also received awards.

The Limerick preschool championed biodiversity by planting native Irish plants, creating a ‘no mow’ zone, adding bird boxes, hedgehog boxes and insect hotels to their outdoor space.

Parents and children got involved and joined the preschool’s biodiversity committee.
