Limerick to get crafty for August Craft Month

The By Design artists will do window demos through the month of August.

CRAFT Month returns to Limerick across the month of August, with events taking place throughout the city to mark the annual celebration of arts and crafts.

August Craft Month is Ireland’s biggest celebration of craft, hosted in conjunction with the Design and Crafts Council and Craft NI.

On August 3 and 4, a pop-up exhibition will be hosted by the members of the Glass Society of Ireland, with two private workshop sessions and an exhibition open to the public, exploring the creative process between the writer and glass artist.

The exhibition takes place in Spacecraft Artists’ Studios, Unit 6 in Mungret Court, and is free and open to all.

On Saturdays throughout August, Demo in Our Window will take place at Castletroy Town Centre with one of the BY DESIGN – A Local Story artists hosting a weekly demonstration.

People can visit, watch the makers create, have a chat, ask some questions, and maybe even join in. The event is free and open to all, running from 1.30pm until 3.30pm.

Later in the month, Bring Out Your Lace 2024 will take place at 16 Roches Street, run by Friends of Lace Limerick in collaboration with People’s Museum Limerick, inviting members of the public to bring their lace items to be assessed, catalogued, and photographed.

The group will share useful advice about lace preservation and storage. Friends of Lace will also organise a pop-up exhibition with pieces from its members’ personal collections.

All events are free and are open to all to attend.
