A COUPLE of exciting fixtures were played in the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship at the weekend.

The competition consists of eight teams, all guaranteed seven fixtures, with just the top four qualifying for the semi-finals. The ultimate winners will earn promotion to senior in 2025.

First into the winners’ enclosure were Newcastle West who accounted for Granagh-Ballingarry, 1-18 to 0-14, at Seán Finn Park, Rathkeale.

Eoin and Ethan Hurley scored 1-16 between them for the Magpies.

Elsewhere, Garryspillane squeezed past Effin, 3-16 to 2-18, in Bruff.
