Tríona Horan: ‘Love Is Love’ at Treaty Brewery this Friday

LIMERICK city based singer-songwriter Tríona Horan recently graduated with a Master of Arts in Songwriting from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at UL, and will bring a new body of work into the world, in the form of an EP (debut) in 2025. This month Tríona dropped her debut single called ‘Love is Love’, a folk/pop gem that explores her journey of self-discovery.
Tríona explains, “‘Having considered myself heterosexual for all of my life, when I realised that I wasn’t, I felt a great sense of freedom, and this song is about celebrating that, and acknowledging that I’m bisexual.”
With a successful crowdfunding campaign, she recorded ‘Love is Love’ with local producer, studio engineer and musician, Ben Wanders, of Wanderland Recording.

“Love is love, a self-release, offers a folk-pop feel with electronic elements embedded, and while the song is deeply personal, I see it as a celebration of Pride for the wider queer community, a reminder that everyone should be afforded the freedom to be oneself, and the opportunity to love in a way that brings them joy, despite the ever-present hate crimes  against the LGBTQAI+ community.”

To celebrate her debut single, Tríona, daughter of the late singer-songwriter Tadhg Horan, will be playing a launch gig in Treaty City Brewery, Nicholas Street, this Friday July 26 at 9pm, where she will be joined by Deanna McDonagh on drums and Eugene Wogan on bass.

To date Tríona has supported the folk/Americana trio, The Raines, upstairs in Dolans and Limerick artist Niall Quinn in Record Room in March.
