THE WINNERS of Shannon Chamber’s annual golf classic got to meet a very special sporting guest at the recent prize-giving ceremony.

Irish amateur golfer Áine Donegan was on hand to present the prizes to the winners of the annual golf competition, which broke with tradition this year by not hosting the prize-giving ceremony on the same day.

The ceremony coincided with Ei Electronics’ announcement of its  sponsorship of the Ennis-native Donegan.

Attendees listened intently to Ms Donegan’s talk about her career, her ambitions for competing in either the Curtis Cup or the Women’s Irish Open, and her plans for turning professional on completion of her studies in the United States.

The prize-giving ceremony saw the winning team, representing Costcutters, receive four pairs of return flights to Paris, sponsored by Shannon Airport.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shannon Chamber CEO Helen Downes said that the organisation was honoured to have Áine Donegan on hand to give out the prizes.

“We were honoured to have such a special guest as Áine Donegan partake in our prize-giving ceremony and are so delighted that Ei has forged an association with Áine as this will give our members a very special reason for watching her golfing career progress.

“Ei is a winner in its own right and I know that Áine’s association with such an exemplar company will stand her well in her golfing career,” Ms Downes said.

The top five teams in the Chamber’s golf classic were Costcutters, Edwards Life Sciences, AAG Team 3, Signature Aviation, and Baker Hughes.
