ON his TV debut, Limerick’s Séamus Flanagan impressed as part of the BBC coverage of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final between Clare and Cork.
For the first time by the BBC, the Final was broadcast to millions of viewers through BBC Two across the UK.
It was the first occasion that BBC had shown the Final.
Flanagan, the holder of five All-Ireland titles, came across exceptionally well on punditry duty alongside Antrim’s Neil McManus, Austin Gleeson of Waterford and Paul Murphy (Kilkenny).
Pitchside with reporter Mark Sidebottom was Cork’s Seán Óg Ó hAilpín, with Sarah Mulkerrins presenting the live coverage.
Connor Phillips was also a reporter.
Jamesie O’Connor (Clare) joined Thomas Niblock on commentary duty.
Comedians Dara O’Brien (Cork) and David O’Doherty (Dublin) and actors Jimmy Nesbitt (Antrim) and Siobhan McSweeney, Derry Girls were also in attendance.
It’s back to the pitch for Flanagan himself in the coming weeks, as club duty beckons with Feohanagh in the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship.
