FRESH from a superb semi-final win over Kilkenny, Limerick can achieve cult status with a historic victory against Galway in Saturday’s All-Ireland Under-16 Camogie Final at Nowlan Park, throw-in 4.30pm.

Diarmuid Ryan’s Limerick are seeking their first ever national success at this level, and will be buoyed by the weekend defeat of heavily fancied Kilkenny.

Galway have won this Championship on 14 occasions, and will start as slight favourites.

“The team deserves to be in the Final; it is absolutely brilliant,” commented Ryan. “They are a dogged, determined group; nothing fazes them, so hopefully we will go into this final with no fears.”

The Limerick side includes such talent as semi-final player-of-the-match and captain Ornagh Barrett (Knockaderry), Abigail Buckley (Bruff), Cora Long (Tournafulla), Tara Hayes (Bruff), Cáitlin Ryan (Na Piarsaighm, Rachel O’Grady (Patrickswell) and Amber O’Sullivan-Hunt (Killeedy).

When Limerick and Galway previously met in the Group stages, the sides finished level, and another tight tussle is likely.
