“We are excited about the possibilities that this acquisition brings to Limerick Travel,” Mr Brazil said.

“By combining our strengths and expertise, we are well positioned to operate and further develop the B&B tourism product for the years ahead using over 50 years’ experience to grow the platform.”

Helena Healy, chief executive of B&B Ireland, said that the acquisition ensures that international visitors will be encouraged to stay with Ireland’s bed and breakfast providers for many years to come.

“For the B&B sector and B&B Ireland members, this development secures the future of the international trade and consumer visitors into Ireland continuing to experience this very special product that is an important part of the Irish tourism experience,” Ms Healy said.

B&B Ireland was set up 52 years ago and has been involved in the promotion of B&B accommodation in Ireland since.
