Two arrested after ‘devices’ seized during Garda raid in Limerick

GARDA investigations are ongoing after a number of “devices” were seized during a raid on a premises in Limerick today (Tuesday).

Two men were arrested following the Garda search and are currently being held at Garda stations in the Southern region.

A statement from An Garda Síochána confirmed that the raid was made as “part of an operation targeting organised criminal activity between July and September 2020 in the Southern and Eastern regions”.

Gardaí attached to the Clare Tipperary Crime Functional Area carried out a search at the Limerick premises this Tuesday morning in relation to suspected involvement in burglary, theft, and robbery offences.

The officers were aided by the Armed Support Unit from Henry Street Garda Station.

According to the Garda statement, “a number of devices were seized” during the course of the search.

“Two men were arrested and both are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Garda stations in the Southern region.”

Gardaí said that investigations are “ongoing”.
