Limerick academic awarded over €500,000 in research funding

MIC's Dr Ailbhe McDaid.

A LIMERICK academic has been awarded over half a million euro in research funding from the Irish Research Council (IRC) and Science Foundation Ireland (SFI).

Dr Ailbhe McDaid from Mary Immaculate College (MIC) was awarded €590,000 in funding under the Pathways programme, which supports researchers from all disciplines, for her project Pathologies of Violence: Inscriptions of Global Conflict in Irish Literature 1922-present.

Dr McDaid is an assistant professor at MIC’s Department of English Language and Literature.

The accomplished academic said that her “project considers how international events register in Irish cultural practice, and asks what does this indicate about changing Irish identities”.
