Flood mitigation works confirmed for Limerick village

FUNDING for flood mitigation works in a Limerick village have been approved.

The Office of Public Works (OPW) approved over €100,000 in funding for the flood relief scheme in the village of Meanus.

The news has been welcomed by local Minister Patrick O’Donovan, who said that the scheme had been one of his top priorities.

“This is a great relief for the people of Meanus, who were badly affected by a number of prolonged rainfall events towards the end of last year,” Minister O’Donovan said.

€101,952 has been awarded to the flood relief scheme in the village.

Limerick City and County Council will construct a 300-metre storm drain along the R511 to manage surface water on both sides of the road.
