A COUNTY Limerick Post Office is set to reopen after it closed over a year ago.

Bruree Post Office closed its doors last June, with staff citing circumstances beyond their control.

Since last June, those wishing to use the services of Bruree’s Post Office have had to travel to nearby Kilmallock.

Now, it has been confirmed by An Post that the Bruree Post Office will reopen on September 2.

The new Post Office will be based in the Spar shop on the Main Street of Bruree, with Mrs Lelia Beechnoir acting as postmaster.

Fianna Fáil Minister Niall Collins welcomed the news, saying that it will save many locals in the village having to travel to access essential services.

“This is fantastic news for the local community in Bruree, the commute to alternative post offices was putting a lots of customers to significant bother,” Minister Collins told the Limerick Post.

“I wish the new operator well and look forward to seeing the new service flourish,” he said.
