Gardaí investigating daylight assault in Limerick City

GARDAÍ are investigating a daytime assault on a man in Limerick City.

A spokesman for An Garda Síochána said they received a report of an assault that occurred at approximately 1.15pm this past Saturday (July 6) on Patrick’s Street in Limerick City.

“A man in his 30s was injured and received medical treatment at the scene. A technical examination of the scene has been conducted. Investigations into this incident are ongoing,” the Garda spokesman said.

Gardaí said the man who was assaulted sustained “non-life threatening injuries” and that “no arrests have been made.”

A passerby told the Limerick Post there was “lots of blood on the street and the area was corroded off by Gardaí”.

Gardaí are understood to be harvesting CCTV footage from the vicinity of the scene of the attack.

The Garda spokesman said they could not say if a weapon had been used.
