Garda car rammed in Kilmallock following car theft in Croom

A GARDA car was damaged in a County Limerick town in an incident of dangerous driving.

Gardaí in Kilmallock were investigating the theft of two cars from the Croom area this past Wednesday morning (July 10).

At approximately 7.30am on Wednesday, Gardaí located one of the stolen cars in the town, as it was involved in an incident of dangerous driving.

The stolen car then proceeded to ram the Garda car and flee the scene.

A local source told the Limerick Post that the incident occurred at Castle Court in Kilmallock, and that the car involved was a Mercedes.

Gardaí later found the car abandoned at a different location.

The car used to ram the Garda car was one of two cars stolen from a premises in Croom at around 4am that morning.

It is understood that neither of the Gardaí in the car were injured in the incident, but were shaken.

Gardaí are investigating both incidents, and are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward with any information they may have.

“Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling in the Croom area between 3.30am and 4.30am and the Kilmallock area between 7.00am and 8.00am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí,” a statement from An Garda Síochána said.
