ONE thoughtful, globally-minded Abbeyfeale secondary student was the toast of her school when she put pen to paper to let her creative side help raise funds for those in need.

Keearagh Welch, a student at Coláiste Ide Agus Iosef in Abbeyfeale, raised €450 for Medecins Sans Frontieres’ work in Palestine by drawing portraits of staff or students in her school.

Keeragh’s work, which took the form of quick cartoon-like sketches and more detailed charcoal drawings, proved very popular with teachers and classmates alike.

Her efforts were praised highly by her teacher Della Reidy Fitzgerald and Deputy Principal Joan Collins (pictured above).
