THROUGH Swim Ireland’s Adopt-an-Athlete Programme, Modulacc – a Limerick Modern Methods of Construction company with a workforce of 50 – has come on board as a sponsor of rising star Daragh Horgan of Castletroy.

Darragh (16), is the current holder of the 5km National Championship and recently represented Ireland at the European Junior Open Water Championships in Corfu. He also holds the 800m and 1500m National Age Group titles.

Next-up for Daragh are the European Junior Championships in Vienna, Austria (July 12-14).

A student at Castletroy College, he trains at the National Centre in University of Limerick and also at Killaloe, which is ideal for Open Water preparations.

Sponsor Tony Chawke said “we have committed a guaranteed annual contribution to Daragh, through Swim Ireland’s Adopt-an-Athlete Program, as he continues his journey to Olympic selection in 2028.

“The whole team in Modulacc are seriously impressed by Daragh’s commitment and dedication to his swimming, while balancing school life. We wish Daragh every success in Vienna and look forward to following his journey, hopefully, all the way to Los Angeles 2028.”
