LIMERICK will host the Final of the Time Nutrition Derby on Saturday, at 7.40pm.

Local interest is with Carrigmore Dante, trained in Cappamore by father and daugther Pat and Aoife Coffey.

The winners’ prize is an impressive Є20,000.

On the support card are a number of other finals, including the deciding race of the Treaty Cup (sprint).

In memory of the late broadcaster Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh, a minute’s silence was observed at Limerick on Saturday.

Associated primarily with Gaelic Games, Mr Ó Muircheartaigh, who was laid to rest at Milltown Cemetery in Daingean Uí Chúis in his native Kerry earlier in the day, was a champion of greyhound racing, and broadcast many an Irish St Leger Final from the Markets Field down through the years through ‘Night at the Dogs’, which ran for a period on RTÉ Radio.
