LIMERICK customers of Irish Life Health will have full access to a new hospital on the outskirts of the city that is currently undergoing development, the insurer has confirmed.
Irish Life Health has signed an agreement with the Bon Secours Health System to provide full access for customers to the new state-of-the-art Bon Secours Hospital in Ballysimon when it opens in 2025.
The new private hospital, which is currently under construction, will provide 99 private inpatient rooms, four operating theatres, and a 27-bay surgical day unit.
The health insurance company have become the first Irish health insurer to announce that the majority of its customers across most of their hospital plans will have access to services at the new hospital.
Irish Life Health currently has 212,000 customers across the Mid West and Munster regions.
For the first time in the region, patients will have access to a new cardiology service to include comprehensive diagnostics with Cardiac CT and the associated interventional cardiology suite.
PET scans will also be available at the new hospital, giving doctors ability to detect the early onset of diseases before other forms of imaging tests and help evaluate how well organs and tissues are functioning.
Other treatment options at the new hospital include cardiology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, dermatology, general surgery, endoscopy, urology, and a medical assessment unit.
