FINE Gael councillor Sarah Kiely has welcomed news that maintenance and repairs on a development for older persons in Southill are currently being addressed.

Cllr Kiely raised the outstanding works at Colivet Court with the local authority back in February. This week she told the Limerick Post that residents at the sheltered housing development for over 55s are now set to benefit from a series of significant improvements which are nearing completion.

One of the key updates at Colivet Court is the installation of a new intercom system. Cllr Kiely revealed that a contractor will be onsite on July 8 with work commencing across all blocks. This upgrade is expected to enhance security and communication for residents.

“How we treat our aging population is so important, let’s send a clear message that we value them and the contribution they have made to society in their lives,” Cllr Kiely said.

“Over the past few months, substantial progress has been made on various projects, spearheaded by Declan White, an engineer with Limerick City and County Council, and his team.”

As well as the intercom system upgrade, the installation of a new lift is also nearing completion and is expected to be operational in the coming weeks.

In addition to these improvements, the large gates at Colivet Court have been repaired, and new fobs have been distributed to residents. The pedestrian gates are scheduled for repair during the week of the July 8, ensuring better access and security for residents.
