THE Ardnacrusha Power Station will soon open its gates once again to public tours this summer season.

Ireland’s first national hydro-electric station has drown crowds in previous summers looking to experience first-hand the impressive headrace canal, locks, and tailrace.

Guided tours will be open to the public from July 1 to September, on weekdays only, accommodating groups of up to 30 people.

Tours are free to the public and take approximately 90 minutes.

“The Ardnacrusha Experience tells the story of the critical role that the Shannon Scheme has had in enhancing Irish life, paving the way for the social, economic, and industrial development of Ireland, making progress possible through the electrification of the country,” said plant manager Brendan Shine.
