THE Sevens series is rolling out the red carpet for some of the most prolific and enduring artists in electronic music at The Record Room. Mark your calendars for the weekend of July 12-14, featuring the legendary David Holmes, Donal Dineen’s Backstory, and a Liam Gallagher After Party with DJ Paul Gallagher, Liam’s brother.
Kicking off the series with a bang, the first shows brought together two of the UK’s top electronic producers over Easter weekend: Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor and Lionrock’s Justin Robertson. Now, The Commercial is upping the ante. On July 12, they welcome Belfast’s own David Holmes. Following that, on July 13, catch Donal Dineen’s Backstory, and don’t miss the exclusive Liam Gallagher afterparty on July 14, following his Definitely Maybe show at Thomond Park in Limerick.
David Holmes is a DJ, producer, and award-winning film composer with a career spanning decades. Starting his DJ journey in Belfast clubs at just 14, Holmes released his first techno and house singles in the early ‘90s.
His debut album, This Film’s Crap, Let’s Slash The Seats, set the stage for his cinematic production style, which evolved with his New York-inspired follow-up, Let’s Get Killed. Transitioning into film scoring, Holmes crafted unforgettable soundtracks for Steve McQueen’s Hunger and Steven Soderbergh’s Out of Sight and Ocean’s Eleven series, blending his signature sampling with the rhythms and atmospheres honed from years behind the decks.
Catch David Holmes at The Record Room on Friday, July 12, with support from Arveene. Grab your tickets at www.thecommercial.pub and Eventbrite.
Get ready for a weekend that promises to be a celebration of these eclectic, electronic music legends.
