MOST 15-year-olds are knee deep in fashion, music, and TikTok, but one young Limerick lady, Amina Costello, is going to Malta for Ireland to discuss such topical issues as child poverty.

Representing Croom Foroige Project, Amina was selected to attend the Eurochild Conference in Malta on July 3.

Amina was chosen throughout Ireland to act as a Eurochild Delegate to discuss issues which affect young people not just in Ireland but throughout Europe.

This years conference is themed “Fostering Rights-based Solutions to tackle Child Poverty and Social Exclusion throughout Europe”.

Amina said she was “incredibly honoured to be fulfilling this position as it means I am awarded an opportunity to represent and advocate for the adolescents of Ireland”.

“My wish for this years conference is to be able to deliver a well rounded, realistic, and honest perspective of the current issues which affect fellow young people in Ireland. I am extremely proud to be a part of such an integral conference which will affect the future of so many.”

Amina may be just 15 years old, but she has already carved herself out as an ardent advocate for young people’s rights and legislation.

To add another feather to her cap, Amina will also attend the Leadership for Life Conference with Foroige National youth organisation.

She also sits on Foroige’s Youth Sub Group, Foroige’s National Youth Reference Panel, along with many other achievements such as debate team captain, chairperson of Green Schools, as well as being a BTYSTE and Scifest award winner.
