At the launch were Gerard Liston, Fineen Wycherley (Munster Rugby), Liam Mackessy, Irene O’ Connor, Josh Wycherley (Munster Rugby), Mary Liston, Bernie Moloney, Tipperary hurler Alan Tynan, Derek Heverin, and Denis Woods.

NEWCASTLE WEST GC will host its annual €15,000 Pro-Am on Saturday August 24.

There are still a limited number of team places (three amateurs, to be joined by a professional) available, and booking is through the club at 069 76 500 (extension 20).

The cost is €500, to include a guest bag, on-course refreshments and a post-competition meal in the impressive clubhouse.

Project coordinaor Alister Lynch confirmed the event is limited to 50 teams and that handicap limits will be in place.

The event is once again supported by Shannon Transport Logistics, an operation headed-up by Mike O’Riordan, a past club captain and president, and current director at Newcastle West.
