Originally from Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Maeve attended St. Mary’s for both primary and secondary school before pursuing higher education at NUI Galway, where she earned both a BA (honors) in Law and History and an LLB (honors). Qualifying as a solicitor in 2010, she has since developed a diverse skill set, specialising in Personal Injuries Litigation, Residential Conveyancing, Probate, and Family Law.
Maeve’s passion for justice and desire to assist those in need have been the driving forces behind her career choice, alongside the aspiration to be a positive role model for her family, including her seven-year-old daughter, Ayla. Transitioning from a junior solicitor to a salaried partner at James J. & Son Solicitors, Templemore, Co. Tipperary, she gained invaluable experience, particularly in probate matters. Maeve recently worked on a complex case involving a large estate with multiple beneficiaries, 20 of whom were non-resident.
The case required the sale of two properties in Dublin during the COVID-19 pandemic, which added an extra layer of difficulty. Managing the expectations and demands of all 30 beneficiaries, she ensured that appropriate tax clearance was obtained before any distributions were made. Recognising the complexity of the tax implications, Maeve brought in an expert tax consultant to ensure seamless filing of returns and compliance with all relevant regulations.
Her approach to practicing law is marked by empathy, effective communication, and a commitment to staying updated on legislative changes such as enduring power of attorney and assisted decision making legislation. Joining Hogan Dowling McNamara presents an exciting challenge for Maeve, as she aims to contribute her diverse experience, adaptability, and well-rounded knowledge to the firm’s growth and success while continuing to assist clients and advance her career in specialised areas.
