IN HIS own words and opinion, Limerick hurling hero Gearรณid Hegarty was not deserving of All-Star recognition in 2023.

Winner of Hurler of the Year 2020, Hegarty is the holder of three All-Star Awards but was not short-listed last summer.

โ€œI donโ€™t think I deserved a nomination last year so I didnโ€™t feel angst about it,โ€ he stated. “I didnโ€™t feel left out or anything along those lines.”

โ€œI felt that I didnโ€™t deserve one. I would have actually nearly been embarrassed if I had gotten one last year.โ€

The St Patrickโ€™s clubman has been on fire this season, and his performance in the Munster Final win over Clare at Semple Stadium, Thurles, was awesome.

He contributed 1-2 in a man-of-the-match display.

Hegarty stated: โ€œIt was more so determination to try and get back to somewhere closer to my best for my own self, for my family and my friends โ€” that was more important to me than external things (such as All-Stars).โ€

He is an ambassador for Bord Gรกis Energy.
