LIAM Fitzgibbon was presented with the Comhaltas SCT (Scrúdú Ceolta Tíre) Mícheál Ó hEidhin High Achievement Award by the Uachtarán of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Éamonn Ó hArgáin, at the recent Comhaltas Annual Congress in Sligo.
Liam, a native of Banogue, is a highly accomplished uilleann piper and harper.
The awards are named in honour of the late music inspector with the Department of Education, who initiated the Comhaltas TTCT course and the SCT graded examinations in Irish traditional music.
The medallions are awarded to the national and international students who achieve the highest grades in the final examination.
