Surgery for Munster’s Joey Carbery following thumb injury sustained in Ospreys clash

Joey Carbery.

JOEY Carbery, 28, has undergone surgery on a thumb injury sustained in the URC defeat of Ulster, Munster Rugby have confirmed.

And, it’s likely too that Tom Ahern will need surgery on the ankle injury he sustained in the same fixture.

There were no injuries sustained in the weekend win over Ospreys at Thomond Park.

Coach Graham Rowntree has hinted that Alex Nankivell could be in line for a start in Saturday’s (6pm) semi-final with Glasgow Warriors in Limerick.

He has increased his workload and “a decision on his availability will be made later in the week.”
