RATHKEALE trainer Eric McNamara has enjoyed a couple of timely wins of late.
Owned by his daughter Kate, Raw Ability landed a 40/1 success in the opening eight-furlong fillies’ maiden at Gowran Park.
Ridden by Shane Foley, the three-year-old came with a late run to deny Henry de Bromhead’s 11/10 favourite Quatrain by a comfortable one and a quarter lengths.
McNamara then saddled his second winner as the Bill Hawkins-owned Gaelic Des Chastys scored a last-gasp success in the opening division of the two-mile three-furlong handicap hurdle at Punchestown.
The trainer’s son Conor was in the saddle as the 10/1 chance got up in the final strides to beat Shane Crawley’s Del Girl by a short head.
On Monday, Athea’s Eoin McCarthy saddled Dark Image (12/1) – under the mount of Gary Noonan, Newcastle West – to win a Handicap Hurdle.
The winner is owned by Seán Maguire.
