THE “incredible generosity” of Limerick’s blood donors was highlighted at a ceremony at the Greenhills Hotel held by the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS).

Blood donors who had reached the impressive milestones of 50 and 100 donations were lauded at the ceremony, with Mayor Gerald Mitchell highlighting “the incredible generosity of our community’s donors”.

Donors who reached 50 donations were awarded with the gold blood drop award, while those reaching the 100 milestone received the prestigious pelican award.

Addressing the donors present, IBTS CEO Orla O’Brien said that their “contribution is not just a donation, it’s a beacon of hope”.
