Tallies show early surge for one Limerick mayoral candidate

AFTER 20 per cent of boxes have been opened from votes across the county, unofficial early tallies have indicated that one candidate in the historic inaugural mayoral election is ahead of the pack.

Former Department of Finance general secretary, and Independent candidate in the mayoral election, has emerged as an early frontrunner according to an unofficial cross-party tally.

The tally after 20 of boxes have been opened is as follows:

John Moran (IND): 3,673 (25%)

Helen O’Donnell (IND): 2,541 (17%)

Dee Ryan (FF): 2,032 (14%)

Daniel Butler (FG): 1,592 (11%)

Maurice Quinlivan (SF): 1,556 (10%)

Frankie Daly (IND): 905 (6%)

Brian Leddin (GP): 537 (4%)

Sarah Beasley (AON): 508 (3%)

Elisa O’Donovan (SD): 399 (3%)

Dr Laura Keyes (RA): 242 (2%)

Ruairí Fahy PBP: 145 (1%)

Caitríona Ní Chatháin (SP): 162 (1%)

Gerben Uunk: 148 (1%)

Colm O’Móráin: 50 (0%)
